These units are fairly easy to find online but difficult to locate at your local big box stores. The DCM2500 coffee maker from Black and Decker offers great value. It brews a very good cup of coffee at an inexpensive price. I have purchased expensive coffee makers ($200) and this coffee maker does as good a job at a fraction of the cost. Do not waste your money on other high end units.
Reviews about the leaking are true. The on -off button no longer works. I could have lived with this but after having this item for just 35 days.it died. Appears to be a problem with the electronic programming buttons. I had my Braun 14 years---did not expect this one to last that long but 35 days. Don't buy it unless you want to shop for a coffee maker next month.-
I prefer my coffee this way but I can understand why some might not like it. It does what it's supposed to. I just got this coffee maker. It was easy to set up and easy to program. While I personally do not really like HOT coffee there's really no option to make it any hotter then it makes itself. Even just brewed coffee is just above warm and completely drinkable right out of the carafe. Easy to clean. I took one star away just because of the fact that it doesnt even have an option to make hot coffee but other than that I have no complaints.
I had this coffee maker in white, purchased it from a big box store less than 2 years ago. I might just keep the carafe as a backup and replace with the same.perhaps mine was just a dud. The coffee maker it replaced (also a B&D) had lasted from 2000-2008 when the carafe cracked and we chose to replace the whole machine.
We used it daily, sometimes twice daily and never had a bad cup of coffee. Not entirely my favorite way to make coffee. While it lasted I enjoyed it.
Turns out that was a big mistake. Now I'm brewing with my teeny 4 cup french press as I debate which machine to buy. We used it with a permanent metal mesh filter and that change really produced a very nice cup of coffee. This past Monday it just quit. The "on" button works but there is no heat or brewing.
Though I don't mind spending this money every 2 years to have good coffee, it irks me that appliances are made with such sub-standard care these days. If you look in the reviews though you'll see I'm not the only one.
SO far so good. I don't know how long it will last. The shut off when you pull the pot out is nice.
